A blog about handmade cards and handsewn sock animals

Hello, Friend

Hello everyone, this is my very first post since I created this blog last week, so I thought I would start off by posting a “hello, friend” card. I also thought I would give it a try to create a card for the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge (MOJO245). I have been a fan of the blog, and again this is the very first time I submitted a card 🙂

All images on my card came from the Betsy’s Blossoms stamp set, except for the “hello, friend” sentiment which came from the Little Friends stamp set. Betsy’s Blossoms is such a versatile set that I can see myself using on cards for different occasions. I especially love the little birdie!

  • The big blossom image was used to create a subtle background on the Tangerine Tango cardstock
  • The birdie was stamped twice. I snipped out the whole birdie from the first image, and just the wing from the second image. I then popped the wing up using Stampin’ Dimensional
  • The stem of leaves was cut out using the Little Leaves Sizzlits Die
  • I realized if you give the Seam Binding Ribbon a scratch using your fingernail, it will curl up, which adds more interest to the card
  • The patterned paper is from Stampin’ Up! Floral District Designer Series Paper collection
  • Rhinestone Basic Jewels are a quick way to embellish the layered flower image

Stamp Set:  Betsy’s Blossoms (Wood-Mount 126004, Clear-Mount 126006), Little Friends (Wood-Mount 122665, Clear-Mount 122667)

Cool Tools:  Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine (113439), Little Leaves Sizzlits Die (114511)
The Perfect Touch:  ½” Very Vanilla Seam Binding Ribbon (120999), Rhinestone Basic Jewels (119246), Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430)
